Days follow one another. The screen, the phone, the steering wheel, the children. And when evening comes, the body has stored it all: the neck feels stiff, the shoulders are tight, and tension spreads down into the arms.
This is not insignificant. These signals—headaches, sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating, that feeling of having a “full mind”—reflect a nervous system that can no longer relax or let go.
This is where a head massage takes on its full meaning: as a true rebalancing tool. By working on the scalp, the face, the neck muscles, and the shoulders, it acts deeply to release accumulated tension and help the body let go of stress stored in the tissues.
The Benefits of Head Massage
Head massage helps reduce stress and anxiety by relieving muscular tension in the scalp, face, neck, and shoulders.
It also stimulates blood circulation to the brain, promoting greater mental clarity and improved focus. This practice induces deep relaxation, supporting more restorative sleep.
Finally, it helps relieve headaches and migraines by releasing accumulated tension.
Stress Management: Head Massage as a Solution in Montpellier
Stress is not only a mental experience. It becomes stored in the body, altering breathing patterns, tightening muscles, and disrupting sleep.
Receiving a head massage, including the scalp, head, neck, and shoulders, provides a tangible response to what the body accumulates day after day.
Muscle Tension Relief
Under stress, muscles naturally contract. It is automatic, almost reflex, and it is the neck, shoulders, and scalp that bear the first effects.
The head massage I offer in Montpellier works on these areas through gentle, precise circular movements, targeted friction, and progressive pressure.
By releasing these physical knots, the treatment has a direct impact on the mental state: thoughts begin to settle and the mind becomes clearer. You feel more centered, calmer, in a state of emotional release, as if a weight has been lifted.
People who receive my head massages in Montpellier often describe a true moment of letting go—rare and deeply valuable in our busy everyday lives.
Nervous System Reset
Head massage acts as a true reset for the nervous system. Studies show that targeted pressure on specific areas can reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) by up to 30% in just 10 minutes, promoting a shift into parasympathetic mode: the state of rest, digestion, and calm.
It also stimulates the release of beneficial neurotransmitters. Acupressure on specific points, such as Baihui (GV20), located at the top of the head, triggers the production of endorphins and serotonin.
As a result, my head massage sessions in Montpellier support a more stable mood, improved concentration, and a lasting sense of well-being.
Improved Blood Circulation: Head and Facial Massage as a Remedy
Did you know that the scalp is highly vascularised?
Head massage actively stimulates blood circulation in this area, promoting increased oxygen and nutrient supply. Studies show that scalp acupressure can increase blood flow by up to 45%, benefiting brain tissue.
As a result, the brain receives better oxygenation, mental clarity is enhanced, and both concentration and vitality are improved.
Improved Blood Circulation: Head and Facial Massage as a Remedy
The benefits of head massage also extend to sleep quality. By reducing stress and calming the nervous system, this relaxing treatment prepares both body and mind for deeper, more restorative rest.
Scalp massage activates nerve endings that send calming signals throughout the body and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for rest and recovery.
My head massage practice in Montpellier also promotes the release of serotonin, the “feel-good” hormone, which is then converted into melatonin, the sleep hormone. It creates a natural domino effect:
more serotonin → more melatonin → easier falling asleep and more restorative sleep.
Natural Relief for Headaches and Migraines
Tension accumulated in the muscles of the scalp and neck is often at the origin of headaches and migraines. Head massage helps release these tensions and provides noticeable relief.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the head is considered the “convergence of all Yang meridians” and the “sea of marrow.” This means the skull is closely connected to the entire body and nourished by all the internal organs. The body has an extensive network, the meridian system, which supplies the head with essential substances such as Essence, Qi (vital energy), and Blood.
When this system is disrupted, headaches may occur. The therapeutic principle in TCM is to unblock the meridians and restore the circulation of Qi and Blood. Chinese head massage is a particularly effective therapeutic treatment for relieving headaches related to cold or flu, migraines, and muscular tension.
Head Massage in Montpellier: The Approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Far from superficial bodywork or purely aesthetic treatments commonly found in beauty salons, the head massage I practice is rooted in a rigorous therapeutic tradition.
Every movement has meaning. Every pressure has intention.
The Benefits of Chinese Massage for Calming the Mind
For thousands of years, massage techniques rooted in Chinese tradition have been based on a holistic approach that the Western world is now rediscovering—one that considers the individual as a whole, on a physical, mental, and emotional level.
In my practice in Montpellier, I approach each head massage session in this spirit: as a living treatment, adapted to your current state, your personal history, and what your body is expressing on that particular day. Skilled hands in the service of genuine listening.
Tuina Massage for Deep and Lasting Relaxation
Among all the areas of the body treated in Tuina massage, head massage (Yang Ju) is undoubtedly one of the most important for restoring a perfect balance between Yin and Yang.
This type of massage is one of the pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Fully tailored, it is most often performed with the client clothed or covered with a cotton sheet. This ancestral Chinese massage is based on a set of precise manual techniques, adapted to each person’s specific needs.
The goal is to promote the circulation of Qi (energy) and Blood, regulate the functions of the internal organs, and strengthen the body’s resistance to illness. Among the various techniques I use are pressure, friction, percussion, rocking, oscillation, and vibration, as well as gentle mobilisations and muscle stretching.
Yang Ju head massage is a specific technique in which each movement targets precise meridians. Focusing on various acupuncture points of the upper body, scalp, and face, Yang Ju massage helps restore energetic balance and relieve tensions responsible for headaches, fatigue, stress, and sleep disturbances.
How Does a Yang Ju Head Massage in Montpellier Work?
The Energetic Assessment
Before beginning the massage, I take the time to talk with you.
This moment of listening is not a formality; it is the foundation of the treatment. Based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), I carry out a personalized energetic assessment to identify your current imbalances and adapt each movement accordingly.
Initial Contact and Activation of Energy Points
You are then invited to lie down comfortably on the massage table. Together, we take a few moments to settle the breath and begin the treatment in the best possible conditions.
In this environment conducive to relaxation, I first establish contact with your body by releasing tension in the trapezius muscles. I then gradually activate the acupuncture points related to the head, neck, and face in order to progressively release and relax them.
Deep Scalp Work
This is the core of the treatment. I work on sensitive and congested areas of the scalp, alternating light and deeper acupressure techniques, particularly on the crown of the head and the temples.
The goal is twofold: to release energetic blockages and to promote better blood and lymphatic circulation in the head area. The eye contour, forehead, temples, and jaw are then treated using circular movements. This scalp work creates a deep sense of relaxation that is always surprising in how complete it feels.
Releasing the Neck and Nape Tension
The treatment continues with slow and precise work on the neck muscles, which are heavily used in daily life, particularly the sternocleidomastoid (SCM), often involved in cases of stiff neck, as well as the scalene muscles.
Finishing with the Hand and Forearm Meridians
The treatment ends with progressive stimulation of the meridians of the hands and forearms, in order to encourage deep and lasting inner release.
For a complete treatment and optimal relaxation, I also suggest combining head massage with Chinese foot reflexology, which helps regulate energy through the feet as well and harmonise the body as a whole.
Key Acupuncture Points Stimulated During Yang Ju Chinese Massage
For deep and lasting relaxation, several acupuncture points are systematically stimulated using different massage techniques on the face, scalp, neck, shoulders, and arms:
- Yintang, the “Hall of Impression” (between the eyebrows): calms the mind, improves concentration, and helps release emotional tension.
- Taiyang, the “Supreme Yang” (at the temples): promotes sleep, relieves temporal headaches, and helps ease eye inflammation.
- Anmian, the “Peaceful Sleep” point (located just below the mastoid process): a major point used to address insomnia, including difficulty falling asleep, night awakenings, and light or restless sleep.
- Shenting (GV24), “Court of the Spirit” (at the center of the forehead, just behind the hairline): regulates the mind, calms dizziness and frontal headaches, and helps support individuals experiencing low mood or depressive states.
- Baihui (GV20), “Point of 100 sickness” (at the top of the head): helps relieve mental fatigue, supports memory and vision disorders, and alleviates dizziness and high blood pressure.
- Fengchi (GB20), “Wind Pool” (located below the occipital bone): calms the mind, helps subdue Liver Yang, relieves neck pain and stiff neck, and relaxes the muscles.
- Jianjing (GB21), “Shoulder Well” (at the top of the upper trapezius): helps with high blood pressure and relieves shoulder pain and tension.
- Shenmen (HT7), “Spirit Gate” (on the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon, at the wrist crease): helps with palpitations, supports emotional regulation, and reduces stress.
- Neiguan (PC6), “Inner Gate” (on the forearm, between the tendons of the palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis muscles): a point of balance and calm that helps relieve chest discomfort and supports sleep disorders.

Dès mon arrivée, je me suis senti emporté par son énergie douce et sa présence bienveillante Très professionnel et compétent, il a trouvé la cause de mes maux et a su adapter le massage en fonction de ma problématique.
